Retro postcards, fireworks displays on the moon, patriotic portraits, surrealism, red white and blue chickens, jungle plants and otters.
Those were just a few of the images created Thursday at the 4th annual Idaho Statesman Chalk Art Festival in Ann Morrison Park.
More than 40 adult and youth artists as well as six professional featured artists created pieces over the course of eight hours or less.
Artist registration fees will benefit ArtFaire, a nonprofit charity that provides youth outreach programs in the arts.
Passers-by had the chance to vote for their favorite pieces during the day. A panel of judges will also select winners in several categories.
