Air quality levels 'moderate,' but improved

July 3, 2013

— The Treasure Valley will still be hazy Wednesday, with a “moderate” air quality rating. Smoke from nearby wildfires continues to impact the air quality.

A mandatory burn ban for Ada and Canyon Counties is still in effect.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality issued a yellow air quality alert for Wednesday, with an AQI of 79.

That’s an improvement over Tuesday, which was classified as “unhealthy for sensitive groups” with an air quality index of 120.

But shifting winds could still spark a change for the worse later Wednesday, DEQ officials warned.
