Meridian man charged with grocery theft

A 22-year-old who police said stole groceries from a Boise store Tuesday evening has been charged with a felony.

Store employees said they saw James Westover Wonacott hide grocery items in a backpack and leave the store without paying for them.

Wonacott was stopped by store security, who held him until Boise police arrived.

The stolen goods were recovered, police said. Wonacott was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail. He faces a felony burglary charge.

An initial court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
