Pat Tate's great grandfather, David Gekeler, arrived in South Boise in 1879 and acquired 160 acres via a timber claim. Later generations operated Triangle Dairy and increased the property to 325 acres and provided fresh milk to many Boiseans. Two remaining grain silos and the original barn are still on the property that now is home to Gekeler Farms Apartments.
