Cyclists' charity ride will affect Treasure Valley roads

June 21, 2013

A charity cycling event will impact roads in the Treasure Valley this Saturday, according to the Idaho Transportation Department.

The Blue Cruise of Idaho ride will include a 15-mile, 30-mile, 50-mile, and 100-mile route. Cyclists will begin at Blue Cross of Idaho on Eagle Road at 7 a.m.

ITD spokesman Reed Hollingshead said that no road closures were anticipated, but cautioned motorists to drive carefully and keep an eye out for the riders.

The 15-mile ride will affect Cloverdale Road and Locust Grove Road, with Pine Avenue, Columbia Road and Rosario Street used as well. The 30-mile and 50-mile routes include most of the same roads, but extend farther south into Kuna. The 100-mile route extends east to Cole Road and west into Canyon County.

The routes will cross Meridian Road, Eagle Road, and Idaho 45.

The Blue Cruise of Idaho supports charities including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho, St. Luke's Children's Hospital, Bikes for Kids, and the Treasure Valley YMCA. More than $153,000 has been been raised since the first ride in 2003.
