Idacorp, Idaho Power name new chairman

Robert Tinstman is the new independent chairman of the Idacorp and Idaho Power Company boards of directors.


The boards of directors for Idacorp and Idaho Power Company elected Robert Tinstman to be the new independent chairman of the boards. Tinstman has been a director since 1999 and chairman of the Compensation Committee since 2002.

Tinstman previously served as president and CEO of Boise architecture and engineering firm Morrison-Knudsen Corp. from 1995 to 1999, chairman of from 2000 to 2001, and executive chairman of James Construction Group from 2002 to 2007.

An engineer and Boise resident, Tinstman graduated from University of Wisconcin-Platteville in 1968 with a B.S. in Mining Engineering.

Tinstman replaced Gary Michael, who stepped down from the position in accordance with company bylaws mandating retirement at age 72.

J. LaMont Keen, CEO of the companies, said he was confident in Tinstman.

"(Tinstman) has brought tremendous value to Idacorp and Idaho Power during his tenure as director," Keen said in a prepared statement. "His proven business acumen and knowledge of a wide variety of disciplines, including construction, allow him to share valuable insight to advance the companies' business strategy, especially in the area of our ongoing, large infrastructure projects."
