Valley Regional Transit seeking multimodal committee

Boise - The Idaho StatesmanJune 17, 2013

— Faced with repeated opposition over its plans to put a transportation hub in Downtown Boise, Valley Regional Transit is looking for people to participate in a committee that will "provide guidance on the design of the multimodal center, assist with public outreach and help...obtain plan review approval," according to a news release.

The committee will meet at least five times over the next year, with the first meeting taking place June 27.

Valley Regional Transit's latest attempt - its sixth in six years - to find a home for the hub met with familiar obstacles from some of the most powerful people in Idaho. Legislators and other elected officials encouraged denial of the group's application to put the hub on a lot just southwest of the Capitol, saying it would bring transients and other undesirables too close to the Statehouse.

If you're interested in participating in the Multimodal Advisory Committee, call Rosemary Curtin at (208) 377-9688 or email by June 24.
