Deputies have not confirmed the identity of a man who was killed after his car crashed into the Salmon River.

VALLEY COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

A driver was found dead Wednesday after his car veered off the road and into the South Fork of the Salmon River in a backcountry area east of McCall.

The body of Pat Donica, 74, of McCall was found in his car, which was almost completely submerged in the water, according to the Valley County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash was discovered after a passing driver saw debris on the road, and spotted the car in the river.

The man had been traveling in a very remote area near the intersection of the South Fork and East Fork of the South Fork of the Salmon Rivers, deputies said.

The exact time and cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Valley County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho State Police. There are no signs of foul play.
