Two firefighters injured in Nampa daycare blaze

June 11, 2013

— A Nampa day care center was badly damaged in a fire Monday night. Fire departments from Nampa, Meridian and Caldwell responded to a two-alarm fire at the Dragons and Butterflies daycare on 12th Avenue in Nampa, and were able to extinguish the blaze.

Two firefighters were injured during the fire, Nampa Deputy Fire Chief Doug Strosnider said. One of the firefighters hurt his ankle and is expected to return to work next week.

The other was taken to Saint Alphonsus in Nampa for observation, and may be released Tuesday. Further information on the firefighter’s condition is unknown.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The facility, which cares for about 80 children, will be closed Tuesday due to the damage.
