A group disheartened by U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador's decision to walk away from the Gang of 8 trying to develop a bipartisan immigration plan, plans to hold a protest outside Labrador's Meridian office on Monday.
Members of the Idaho Coalition for Immigration Rights will gather at noon outside the office, located at 33 E. Broadway Ave.
"In choosing political grandstanding over bipartisanship, he needs to understand Latino and immigrant voters will not let him forget that he has turned his back on them," the group wrote in a release.
Labrador was seen as a key player to help lead legislation through the House. He left the group after talks broke down on a requirement to make undocumented immigrants fully pay for their health care. He was a strong advocate of that position.
