As part of the Meridian Road and Main Street makeover, called the split corridor, the city is commissioning a sculpture to be installed.
Where will the art be?
Two locations - the southwest corner of Ada and Main streets and the southeast corner of Main and Fairview Avenue. Artists could propose art for both of the sites or just one.
What does it cost?
$95,000, of which $75,000 came from an Idaho Power energy rebate and $20,000 came from a community recycling grant.
When will all this happen?
The Meridian Arts Commission will make a recommendation to the City Council in early July. The council will make the final selection at its July 16 meeting. The project should be installed by May 2014.
How can the public get involved?
Full images of the artwork can be viewed online or at City Hall, where three small-scale models are on display. The public can vote on the proposals through June 28. Voting takes place online at meridiancity.org or at City Hall, 33. E. Broadway Ave., in the Initial Point Gallery on the third floor. City Hall is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
