March Against Monsanto takes place Saturday in Boise and in over 45 countries

Boise will join more than 400 cities around the world on Saturday in taking a stand against biotech giant Monsanto and genetically modified food.

Boise’s March Against Monsanto starts at noon Saturday at the Julia Davis Park Bandshell near Capitol Boulevard and the Boise River.

Currently, events are being planned on six continents, in 46 countries. In the U.S., events are slated to occur simultaneously at 11 a.m. Pacific in 47 states.

On Thursday, the Senate overwhelmingly rejected an amendment that would allow states to require labeling of genetically modified foods
