Crews contain large grassfire that burned Saturday near Kuna

May 18, 2013

A large grassfire started Saturday afternoon near Green Lane and McDermott Road in the Kuna area.

Crews had the fire contained by Saturday evening.

The fire burned about 500 acres, said Scott Smith, a driver operator with the Kuna Fire Department. Smith said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Fire departments from Kuna, Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Star, Upper Deer Flat, Melba and Kuna all worked together to put the fire out. Crews from the Bureau of Land Management planned to stay at the site of the fire all night to make sure there were no flare-ups.

The fire threatened several structures in the area, said Smith. None was damaged. There were no injuries.
