State baseball roundup: Fruitland in 3A final vs. Snake River

3A: FRUITLAND INFINAL VS. SNAKE RIVER

The rivalry between the two schools continues at 4 p.m. Saturday at Fruitland High.

Fruitland, the two-time defending state champion, beat Priest River 14-1 in six innings Friday. Fruitland has outscored its first two opponents 26-1.

Snake River beat Kimberly 10-0 in its semifinal.

Fruitland and Snake River met in two championship games during the 2011-12 school year - Snake River won in football and Fruitland won in basketball. Earlier this season in basketball, Snake River beat Fruitland in the semifinals, en route to a title.

2A: NAMPA CHRISTIAN HAS SHOT AT TITLE

Nampa Christian beat St. Maries 6-5 in their semifinal at Rodeo Park in Nampa.

In the second semifinal, Grangeville defeated New Plymouth 6-3.

Nampa Christian and Grangeville meet in the championship game at 4 p.m. Saturday at Rodeo Park.

Grangeville knocked off defending champion Malad on Thursday. New Plymouth was last year's runner-up and the District Three champion this season.

In the loser-out side of the bracket, Melba beat Firth 3-1 and will play Malad in the consolation final at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rodeo Park.

1A: POTLATCH IN FINAL

Potlatch will play the winner of the Horseshoe Bend-Troy semifinal in the championship game at Wolfe Field in Caldwell. Horseshoe Bend beat Troy 10-3 and lost to Potlatch 11-1 on Friday.
