The Idaho State Board of Education on Wednesday gave the University of Idaho permission to install the videoboard on the east end of the Kibbie Dome.
It is scheduled to make its debut during the Vandals home opener Sept. 14 against Northern Illinois.
The cost of the board, along with installation and software, will be $1.15 million. Of that total, $364,537 will be covered by University Support Services, which operates the dome and will use the board for events such as graduation and the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival.
The Idaho Potato Commission, Blue Cross of Idaho and Commercial Tire have contributed $550,000 toward the $787,321 cost to the athletic department. Additional money will come from sponsorships or athletic department revenue.
Installation begins June 10.
"Not only will we be able to deliver the highest quality video of game action and replays, but our fans can join the fun with interactive promotions,'' Athletic Director Rob Spear said in a statement.
