The body of a fallen Meridian soldier will return to Idaho Wednesday. U.S. Army Spc. Thomas Paige Murach was killed in Afghanistan May 4 when his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb.

Four other U.S. soldiers died in the attack.

Murach’s body will arrive on a small airplane from Dover Air Force Base in Deleware, and be transferred to his family in a ceremony. The event is not open to the public.

A public memorial service for the soldier is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 20, at the Capital Christian Center, 2760 E. Fairview Ave. in Meridian. He will be interred at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Road in Boise, immediately following the service.
