Doug Benson performs May 11 at the Knitting Factory.

  • Doug Benson

    9 p.m. May 11, Knitting Factory, 416 S. 9th St., Boise. $16 and $20. TicketWeb. $22 day of show.

It's not exactly unusual for a comedian to espouse the virtues of marijuana, but Doug Benson has practically made a career out of it.

The former "Last Comic Standing" contestant even made a weed "mockumentary" in 2007 called "Super High Me"- a spoof on Morgan Spurlock's "Super Size Me" - where he basically stayed baked for a month.

Still, in order to have significant staying power in the comedy world, you have to be talented, not just stoned. Benson has proven to be a truly funny cat.
