Boise man may be behind dozens of business burglaries

— David Scott Campbell, 29, of Boise faces one count of burglary - but Boise police detectives say more charges are likely.

Campbell was arrested Thursday at his home and booked into the Ada County Jail after police say they linked him to one of 30 burglaries at small businesses reported in Boise between Jan. 8 and March 20. In most cases, victims reported cash had been taken.

Police say the connection to Campbell was made through the use of a debit card that was stolen in one of the burglaries. Detectives say they believe they have evidence connecting Campbell to 26 of the crimes.

"We need to thank these small business owners and managers who reported the thefts quickly. Their timely reporting allowed us to establish patterns, uncover evidence, and ultimately make an arrest," said Sgt. Brian Lee of the Boise Police Property and Financial Crimes Unit. "The reporting of just one of these crimes in late March provided the break we needed to help solve 25 other cases."

The investigation is ongoing, police said, and they are working with Ada County prosecutors.
