Man gouges eyes, bites in Caldwell assault

May 9, 2013

A Caldwell man was arrested Wednesday after police say he assaulted three people inside a Terrence Drive residence, including attempting to gouge out a woman’s eyes.

Police responded to a 911 call about a man who had struck three people and was chasing them with a lamp pole and a gun, according to the police report.

He has been charged with felony counts of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.

Rodney Harrington, 54, allegedly attempted to poke out a woman’s eyes with his thumbs during a dispute after attempting to throw a dresser at her, and missing.

He also punched a man in the face, and bit a sixteen-year-old boy on the ear before knocking him to the ground, police said.

The woman and the boy were transported to a local hospital for their injuries, police said.

Harrington was arrested and booked into the Canyon County Jail. He has a prior battery conviction from 2007.

If convicted, Harrington will face up to five years in prison on the aggravated assault charge and up to 15 years on the aggravated battery charge.
