May 8, 2013

A U.S. Army carry team transferred a flag-draped case containing the remains of Spc. Thomas P. Murach at Dover Air Force Base, Del., on Tuesday.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, Murach, 22, of Meridian, died May 4 of injuries from a roadside bomb that struck his vehicle in the Maiwand district of Afghanistan's Kandahar province. Four other soldiers also were killed.

Murach's family says he was an outgoing man who loved dumb jokes. Read more about him here.
