Thunderstorms, rain expected for Tuesday and Wednesday

Rain dampened the evening commute along the connector in Boise Monday, May 6. A thunderstorm dropped rain in the area as commuters gathered into heavy traffic. More thunderstorms are expected Tuesday.

More stormy weather is headed to the Boise area Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected Tuesday in the afternoon, with a 20 percent chance of precipitation Tuesday night. Wednesday brings a slight chance of showers off and on during the morning, and a higher chance of rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

The National Weather Service urged Boise residents to be safe during the storms, remain indoors when possible, and take precautions against lightning strikes.

Sunny weather will return an Thursday, with highs in the 80s throughout the week. Temperatures will continue to rise into the weekend, with predicted highs of 86 on Saturday and 87 on Sunday.
