Nampa 5-year-old struck by car expected to recover

May 6, 2013

A Nampa boy who was struck by a car Friday evening is expected to recover, police said Monday. The 5-year-old was hit when he rode his bicycle into traffic on 11th Avenue.

Witnesses to the collision said the boy rode across the street and into the path of two vehicles. The first vehicle was able to stop in time, but the second driver struck the child.

A press release from the Nampa Police Department described the child as having received a serious head injury. He was not wearing a helmet.

Nampa Police Sgt. Tim Randall said Monday that the boy was recovering well in a Boise hospital, and was expected to return home within the next few days.

No charges have been filed in connection with the crash, but an investigation is ongoing, police said.
