— A cyclist and the driver of a vehicle were transported to a hospital with undetermined injuries Friday afternoon after a collision in Boise.

The report came in shortly before 5 p.m. Here's what happened, according to Boise police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower:

• The driver of a four-door Hyundai sedan - the vehicle's only occupant - was northbound on South Vista Avenue near the intersection with West Spaulding Street.

• Witnesses told police that the car swerved into and across the southbound lanes into oncoming traffic.

• The car continued onto the sidewalk, hit the cyclist, then stopped when it hit a light pole.

• Traffic on Vista was restricted to one lane for a while, but has been fully reopened.

• Traffic in both directions of Vista was restricted to one lane in each direction while the crash was under investigation.

The cyclist and driver appeared to escape life-threatening injuries, police said. Both remained hospitalized Friday night.
