Texas Hippie Coalition performs May 3 at the Knitting Factory.

  • Texas Hippie Coalition

7:30 p.m. May 3, Knitting Factory, 416 S. 9th St., Boise. Free tickets by listening to KQXR 100.3 The X. Opening: Karin Comes Killing, Mortal Enemy, Parallel Collision.

There's plenty of chunk in the Texas Hippie Coalition's overdriven guitar sound.

This is a metal band that wears its love for Pantera on its XXXXL-size concert T-shirt sleeve. The massive ax grooves create a foundation for frontman Big Dad Ritch, who barks out anthems about rockin', rollin', and of course, partyin'.

After all, Texas Hippie Coalition's initials are THC. (Get it? Get it?)
