Will lightning strike again for the Idaho Steelheads? Since 2001, the hockey franchise has made it to the league finals every third year.

• In 2001, Idaho advanced to the WCHL Finals (lost to San Diego).

• In 2004, Idaho won the Kelly Cup in its first season in the ECHL (defeating Florida).

• In 2007, Idaho captured its second Kelly Cup (defeating Dayton).

• In 2010, Idaho went to the Kelly Cup Finals (lost to Cincinnati).

How will 2013 turn out for the Steelheads? That remains to be seen, but Idaho moved one step closer to the Kelly Cup Finals when it eliminated Ontario in an ECHL Western Conference semifinal series Tuesday night.

Idaho, the No. 3 seed in the West, advances to take on Stockton, the No. 4 seed, in the Western Conference Finals. Stockton clinched its semifinal series against the Alaska Aces on Tuesday night.
