Woman's body found in Nampa home that caught fire

May 1, 2013

— A woman was found dead in a Nampa home Wednesday afternoon, and officials are investigating.

Canyon County dispatchers received a report of a possible structure fire shortly after 12:30 p.m., officials said. The blaze happened in the 15000 block of Missouri Avenue, near the Pickles Butte landfill.

The woman's body was found inside the home, officials said. Canyon County sheriff's Lt. Donia Ballard said the woman lived there and did not live alone. It was unclear who else lives there.

The woman's name was not released pending notification of next of kin.

An autopsy would be conducted but had not been started as of 5 p.m., Ballard said.

The Canyon County Fire Investigation Team was on the scene Wednesday afternoon. The team is comprised of police and fire investigators from agencies in Nampa, Caldwell and Canyon County, Ballard said.
