April 29, 2013

Austin Laughlin of Garden City was killed shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday after losing control of his motorcycle on Warm Springs Avenue, Ada County Coroner Erwin Sonnenberg said Monday.

Laughlin, 23, died of blunt force trauma, Sonnenberg said in a news release. Laughlin, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his vehicle to the Greenbelt below the road at the base of Warm Springs Mesa. Laughlin died at 3:10 p.m., Sonnenberg said. The accident occurred about 200 feet east of Starcrest Drive.

Boise police said Monday that Laughlin was among three motorcylists riding eastbound on Warm Springs when two of the bikes collided and crashed. The other rider involved in the accident, a man in his early 20s, was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital. Police have not released his name.

The third rider was not involved in the crash. No citations have been issued but the investigation continues, police said in a news release Monday afternoon.
