Boise police allege teenager used wire cutters to swipe cell phone

April 29, 2013

Seth Sargent, 19, was charged with felony burglary after employees at a Boise retailer said he snipped a security cable and took a cell phone from a display case Sunday afternoon.

Sargent, of Nampa, also was charged with misdemeanor possession of burglary tools and a misdemeanor probation violation. He remained in the Ada County Jail early Monday afternoon.

Police said a man entered a retailer in the 8100 block of West Overland Road at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday and used wire cutters to remove the phone. Confronted by employees, the man ran to a nearby store and attempted to hide from police, according to a news release from Boise police.

When officers detained Sargent, he had the phone, still attached to a security device, and a pair of wire cutters in his possession, according to the news release.
