Californian wins Ignitor at Firebird Raceway

Kris Krabill of Anaheim, Calif., won his second straight major Firebird Raceway event by sweeping the 43rd Annual NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor Opener on Sunday.

The reigning Pepsi Nightfire winner earned the AA/Funny Car title by driving the Bucky Austin '78 Trans Am to a winning 5.85 seconds time at 245.63 miles per hour. Krabill defeated low qualifier Dan Horan Jr. of Sylmar, Calif., who redlighted in the final, finishing at 5.91-246.64.

In the Lucas Oil Drag Race Series competition, hometown racer Kevin Griffiths from Fruitland won the Super Gas title by defeating Todd Sims from Puyallup, Wash.

Additional Idaho champions included Dan Lafferty, Wendell; Craig Jensen, Chubbuck; Blu Hayball, Fort Hall; Jim Dillon, Nampa; Lucas Hull, Middleton, and Troy McDonald, Nampa.
