Idaho teams compete in National Academic Decathlon finals in Minneapolis

Centennial High School and Sandpoint High School competed this weekend for Idaho in the National Academic Decathlon finals in Minneapolis.

Sandpoint finished 22nd out of 52 teams.

Centennial finished 43rd, hampered by being short one decathlete who, at the last moment, couldn't attend the competition. Centennial student Steven Schone earned a bronze medal in the Music event.

The Sandpoint team won several medals.

Noah Hay received a gold medal in both Speech and Interview, with a perfect score of 1000 in the Interview in the Varsity category. He also received the Norm Katz Memorial Award for having the highest combined Speech and Interview scores.

Rylee Langton won a first place in Interview and third in Speech. Sarah Wells place third in Interview.

Granada Hills Charter School from California placed first.
