Ignitor heats up at Firebird Raceway

Dan Horan Jr. of Rancho Cascades, Calif., posted the top time in AA/Funny Car qualifying at the 43rd annual NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor at Firebird Raceway outside Boise on Friday.

Driving his '66 Mustang, Horan recorded a 5.98 elapsed time at 244.29 miles per hour. Mark Sanders, better known as "Mr. Explosive," from Maple Valley, Wash., is second at 6.15, 235.04.

The "War Horse" of Roger Garten out of Fallbrook, Calif., is currently third at 6.17, 232.25.

NHRA Sportsman qualifying kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by the AA/Funny Car qualifying sessions at 1 p.m. and 5 pm. Adult pit-side admission is $22, while children 15 and younger are admitted free.
