Two bull riders tied for the top score Friday night in the first round of the Professional Bull Riders' DEWALT Guaranteed Tough Invitational at the Idaho Center in Nampa.
Ty Pozzobon and Fabiano Vieira both notched marks of 87.5 on Slippery Devil and Grinder, respectively. Silvano Alves, who won the Nampa event in 2010, scored an 86.25, good enough to take over the world's No. 1 ranking.
Shane Proctor, who held the top rank going into Friday night, did not complete an 8-second ride. He suffered a shoulder injury after he was bucked off Nitro Circus and still had his glove stuck on the bull rope.
Bull riding continues at 8 p.m. Saturday with the second round. The riders with the top 10 to 15 scores between Rounds 1 and 2 will move into the championship round after the completion of the second round. The rider with the best total score from all three rounds will be the winner of the $30,000top prize.
