The Costume Shop closing

April 26, 2013

A Boise institution is going out of business.

The Costume Shop, which is located at 3777 Chinden Blvd., will close for the last time after business hours on Saturday.

The shop opened 28 years ago under the ownership of Star Moxley, an international award-winning costume designer for the Idaho Shakespeare Festival.

Moxley sold the shop in 2008 to Robert Stevahn, who had worked in the store part time after taking a buy-out from Hewlett Packard.

After the sale, Stevahn told the Idaho Statesman he intended to build upon the shop's legacy.

"This business is bigger than me or even Star," he said in 2008. "It's a cultural and creative resource for this community."
