    8 p.m. April 30, Knitting Factory, 416 S. 9th St., Boise. $16. TicketWeb. Opening: The Knocks.

Most Americans know Alex Clare's voice from a Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 advertising campaign: "And it feels like I am just too close to love you!" the Brit wails over dubstep-influenced wobble sounds.

But there's a lot more to Clare than "Too Close," as fans heading to his concert will tell you.

His debut album, "The Lateness of the Hour," is a musically explorative work that helps redefine the modern idea of a singer-songwriter.
