Ontario blanks Steelheads, ties ECHL second-round series at one game apiece

ONTARIO, Calif. - Mario Lamoureux scored two goals, and the Ontario Reign evened up their ECHL Western Conference semifinal series with a 5-0 shutout of the Idaho Steelheads in Game 2 on Saturday night.

Lamoureux, Brad Calla and Cameron Burt scored in the second period to give the second-seeded Reign the advantage, then Everett Sheen and Lamoureux scored 2 minutes, 26 seconds apart in the middle of the third.

Idaho goaltender Tyler Beskorowany made 17 saves on 21 shots before being replaced by Josh Robinson, who stopped 5-of-6 attempts in his first action since returning to the squad from AHL's Texas Stars. Idaho managed just 19 shots, all saved by Jean-Francois Berube, and was 0-for-4 on the power play, including a 5-on-3 in the third period.

The next three games will be in Boise, starting with Game 3 at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday at CenturyLink Arena.
