Steelheads take Game 1 in OT

Rookie forward Tyler Gron scored the game-winner 12 minutes into overtime, his second goal of the game and fifth of the playoffs, and Idaho defeated the Ontario Reign 3-2 in the opener of their Western Conference semifinal series Friday night in Ontario, Calif.

The Steelheads had a 2-0 lead heading into the third period, but the Reign evened the score with two goals less than a minute apart.

Justin Taylor also scored for Idaho, and Tyler Beskorowany stopped 37 shots in net.

Game 2 is Saturday night in Ontario. The series will then shift to Idaho on Wednesday and Friday, and Game 5, if necessary, next Saturday.
