Caldwell man arrested for 4 pounds of marijuana

An Oregon State Police trooper stopped 32-year-old Shawn B. Merrell for speeding eastbound on I-84 near Baker City, Ore. at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and discovered marijuana, hash and hash oil in the trunk of Merrell's car, according to an Oregon State Police news release.

The trooper arrested Merrell and booked him into the Baker County Jail for unlawful possession and delivery of a controlled substance. The news release estimated the value of the marijuana at $10,000.

The Oregon State Police Drug Enforcement Section is continuing the investigation.
