Boise State University will purchase the four-acre University Christian Church property across from the Student Union Building for $5.9 million.
It is the single largest parcel of land left in the schools master plan expansion zone.
The building will be used for offices, classroom and meeting space. It will eventually be torn down for new construction, but no definite plans are set.
University Christian Church will be in the building for up to a year on a lease agreement. The church will move to property it has on Ustick Road in Meridian and change its name to Parkview Christian Church.
Boise State has been a good neighbor to the church, and UCC is very appreciative of the schools spirit of help and cooperation," said Marcy Timm, church board chairman. "We are pleased to see our property become part of the school.
University Christian Church was founded in the 1880s as Christian Church in Boise. The current building was constructed in the 1950s.
