Nampa police have arrested a suspect in a racially charged attack that occurred March 30.
Justin Gregory, 23, of Nampa was booked into the Canyon County Jail on Tuesday evening. Nampa police said they were aided by the FBI and the METRO Task Force in Gregory's arrest earlier in the day. He was charged with malicious harassment, a felony, in connection with the incident.
Here's what police say happened:
Police responded to a report of malicious harassment at about 11:45 p.m. near Greenleaf and High streets. The adult male victim said he was walking when he was approached by a dark- colored 1990s two-door passenger car. After the occupants exited the car, one of them made a racially charged comment and punched the victim in the face, inflicting minor injuries.
The suspect and the man with him got back into the car and took off.
Police said a member of the public came forward to help identify Gregory as the suspect accused of punching the victim.
The investigation continues, and police are trying to identify other people who were involved.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS or Nampa police at 465-2257.
