DAVIS CUP TENNIS
Boise, American fans welcoming to Serbians
On behalf of my friends and all the other Serbian fans who were in town last weekend for the Davis Cup match with the U.S., I'd like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thanks to the people of Boise for the kindness and hospitality extended to each and every Serbian fan last weekend. Thanks also to the Boise Serbian community for hosting a fan event Saturday night.
We came to Boise from all over the continent (Vancouver Island, Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, Chicago) expecting a nail-biting thriller against the home team. No doubt, the tennis was outstanding, but what we will remember much longer than the tennis was the genuine warmth, kindness and hospitality that surrounded us in the arena and wherever we went.
Instantly recognizable with our flags and Serbian uniforms, we were constantly greeted with smiles, people would inquire where we came from, what we thought of the tennis or just express their admiration for our team.
As a hotel professional, I understand hospitality. But what Boise gave us last weekend goes way beyond great customer service. You gave us your hearts and showed us how proud you were of your city, state and country. In turn, we too left our hearts in Boise.
Hvala, volimo vas! Thank you, we love you!

City, volunteers did a great job as hosts
The Davis Cup came to Boise. Wow! What a terrific event for our city. I was able to volunteer for the week and enjoyed every minute. It took hundreds of people working together to pull this event off and it was a huge success.
We heard nothing but good reports from the visiting people we talked to, but most of all, the Serbians. Yes, they knocked us out of Davis Cup, but what a wonderful group of people. They came from all over the country and the world.
Their players were gracious and friendly. I hope this opens the door for other events so we can show the world what a great place the Treasure Valley is to visit.

Davis Cup in Boise was a smashing success
A huge thank you to everyone who was instrumental in bringing the Davis Cup tournament to Boise. It was a class act from beginning to end. Wonderful to see and hear the enthusiastic fans for teams USA and Serbia. We had a great time.

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS
Lacrosse deserves more coverage in Statesman
Is there a newspaper rule against coverage of non-sanctioned high school sports? Answer: no. Last year we got one game of coverage (btw, thank you for that). This year we hope that the Idaho Statesman is not lagging behind and missing the momentum and excitement that lacrosse has gathered in Idaho. The season has just begun, and there are lots of games to cover, so we hope you are on it. Don't let the Statesman's sports coverage become about as relevant as a fax machine. Just sayin'.
