Nickayla Skinner (Mountain Home) threw her second career no-hitter and allowed just one baserunner in Game 1, and the Coyotes (24-20, 10-10 Cascade Conference) beat Northwest Christian 5-0 and 11-4 in Caldwell. Skinner struck out 10 in the opener, with only a hit batter to lead off the third inning breaking up a perfect game. Molly Mills went 8-for-8 in the twinbill with three doubles, three runs and three RBIs. She was 5-for-5 in Game 2, when the Coyotes set a school record with 19 hits.
BOISE STATE MEN'S TENNIS: The Broncos (15-9, 3-1 Mountain West) won all but one singles match to dispatch UNLV 5-2 in Las Vegas. Andy Bettles, the nation's 33rd-ranked player, beat No. 113 Ace Matias 7-5, 6-2 to clinch the match for his team. Nathan Sereke, Filipp Pogostkin, Thomas Tenreiro and Garrett Patton also won in straight sets; Tenreiro (18-3) earned his 13th straight victory.
BSU WOMEN'S TENNIS: The Broncos (11-7, 2-2 MW) won all but the No. 1 singles match to defeat Colorado State 6-1 at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Sandy Vo, Morgan Basil, Megan LaLone and Manuela Pietzuch were singles and doubles winners.
BSU SOFTBALL: The Broncos (17-20, 1-3 MW) had just three hits, and four errors, in a 5-0 loss at Fresno State to open a Mountain West series, their first shutout in conference play since April 2, 2010, in Fresno. Holly Bourke tied the program's career hits record of 173 with an infield single in the first inning.
