With a unanimous vote Wednesday, three members of the Boise Design Review Committee cleared the last of the regulatory hurdles for Jack's Urban Meeting Place.
The Simplot family's tribute to patriarch Jack Simplot, JUMP is already under construction between 9th, 11th, Myrtle and Front streets in Downtown Boise. In October, Boise Planning and Zoning commissioners approved plans for the main building for the multi-use facility, which includes an event venue, park and educational space for the public to learn arts, crafts and skills.
But the Design Review Committee had balked at plans for canopies where antique tractors are to be displayed on the grounds outside the building. After the Simplots' architect reworked the canopy designs, changing the proposed roof material.
The Simplots also proposed changes to JUMP's entrance from its 9th Street side and other design details. In approving the changes, committee members went against some fo the recommendations of city staff.
