A California man is in the Canyon County jail awaiting extradition for allegedly abducting his son, of whom he does not have custody.
According to Caldwell police, about 4 a.m. Saturday in Hayward, Calif., Walfre Waldemar Perez took his 16-month-old son and fled in a gray BMW.
The suspect used a phone in Idaho about 10 p.m. Saturday, but officers were unable to locate him.
About 8 a.m. Sunday, officers located the suspects vehicle in a trailer park off Linden Street in Caldwell. Officers set up surveillance on the car and witnessed the suspect get into the car with the child.
Officers stopped the car and arrested the suspect on a felony abduction warrant out of California.
Hayward Police are flying an officer to Idaho to get the child and return him to his mother.
