FALLS TO BYU
BYU won 4-3 to snap the Broncos' 28-match home winning streak.
Boise State won the doubles point, while No. 2 singles player Nathan Sereke and No. 5 Thomas Tenreiro each picked up victories. BYU won four of six singles matches to secure the victory.
The match was played Saturday morning in conjunction with the Davis Cup weekend at Taco Bell Arena. It was part of the United States Tennis Association College MatchDay Series.
The BSU women fell to UNLV 5-2 in a Mountain West match in San Diego.
FOOTBALL LANDS CORNERBACK
Brandon Lewis (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) of Pleasant Grove High in Elk Grove, Calif., committed to the Broncos on Saturday.
Lewis said coaches told him they were only going to take one cornerback in the 2014 class, which now has three members. "I didn't want to miss that opportunity,'' he said.
GYMNASTS FIFTH AT NCAA REGIONALS
Boise State scored a 195.350 at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Ore., while Georgia (197.425) and Arkansas (196.95) were the top finishers and NCAA Championship qualifiers.
The meet marked the end of the Broncos' season.
Sophomore Caitlin Mann was the Broncos' top all-around competitor, finishing with a 39.10. The reigning Western Athletic Conference champion tied for sixth in the regional meet, narrowly missing an NCAA Championship qualifying spot as an individual all-around competitor.
Kelsey Black also competed in the all-around, tying for ninth with a 39.050 score. Kelsey Morris was the final Bronco to compete in the all-around, earning a 38.975 to place 11th.
SOFTBALL FALLS AT NEW MEXICO
The Broncos (16-19-1, 0-2 MW) rallied late, but came up short in a 6-5 loss to the Lobos (18-23, 2-3). Devon Bridges homered to start a five-run fifth inning. It was her 37th career shot, tying the Boise State all-time record.
