Jason Chamberlain is the third wrestler in Boise State history to earn the award and the first since Kirk Smith in 2010. The senior finished with a 30-2 record at 149 pounds during his senior season, winning a Pac-12 championship and taking second at the NCAA Championships. The season capped a career highlighted by two All-American honors.
BSU SOFTBALL: New Mexico hit a walk-off home run for a 7-6 win over the Broncos in their Mountain West opener in Albuquerque. BSU (16-18-1, 0-1 MW) put up three runs in the seventh to tie the game, but had a fourth erased on a base-running error. Tara Glover recorded her school-record 19th steal of the year.
BSU TRACK & FIELD: The Broncos won four events on the opening day of the All-Idaho Cup at Dona Larsen Park. Winners included Jordain Andrade (400-meter hurdles, 50.93), Chase Sexton (discus, 170-4), MacKenzie Flannigan (women's 200, 24.05) and Daveon Collins (men's 200, 20.86).
COLLEGE OF IDAHO SOFTBALL: The Coyotes split a pair of pitching duels with Southern Oregon, winning 3-1 then losing 2-0. Nickayla Skinner struck out six in the win for the C of I (20-18, 6-8 Cascade Conference).
