Yum! Ben and Jerry's annual Free Cone Day is Tuesday, April 9. It's the perfect time to try a new flavor.
B & J's is one of the first companies to make giving back part of its corporate ethic. It's been doing Free Cone Day since 1979 to thank customers for their business.
Now the event helps spreads the gratitude as volunteer scoopers will take donations for their favorite charities.
Stop in at the Boise shop, 103 N. 10th St., from noon to 8 p.m., grab a scoop and support local nonprofits.
FROM ICE CREAMTO CHEESE
The Boise Melting Pot fondue restaurant is celebrating National Cheese Fondue Day. OK, so it's a made-up holiday, but it's a great chance to dip some bread into melted cheese.
Make a reservation at the Boise Melting Pot, 200 N. 6th St., between April 8-11, mention National Cheese Fondue Day, and you'll get the "Buy Cheese, Get Cheese" two-for-one special. It's good for up to two people (so, four fondue portions served together). It's a party in a fondue pot.
You must make a reservation to take advantage of the deal. Call 343-8800 or go to MeltingPot.com/Boise.
The next Boise Dishcrawl is set for April 24.
What's a dish crawl? It's like a pub crawl but with food. Think of it as a four-course traveling prix fixe menu. Ticket holders will meet at 7 p.m. at a Downtown spot and then meander to several restaurants, where they will sample a chef's choice special.
Organizers keep the locations secret to heighten the fun. You'll be notified of the meeting place 48 hours in advance via email.
Tickets are $45 and are limited. Get them at Dishcrawl.com/Boise.
