Bobbie Patterson retired in December after 31 years as the executive director of the Boise Convention and Visitors Bureau.
In a proclamation Tuesday marking Pattersons career, Boise Mayor David Bieter recognized her role in promoting the city and bringing the Society of American Travel Writers, Special Olympics Winter Games and the Iron Man triathlon to the Treasure Valley.
Patterson credited people who worked with her at the bureau "for making me look better."
Patterson was the first woman to chair the International Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus.
In February, the Boise bureau was folded into a partnership with the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce. John Cohen was hired last month to replace Patterson.
