Road rage? Zachary E. Jones is charged with aggravated assault and a DUI after Boise police say he drove his SUV in front of a cyclist on Orchard Street and hit his brakes several times Sunday evening.
911 call: A witness called police to report an SUV was pulling in front of a cyclist on purpose and then hitting its brakes on Orchard.
Exchange of words: The cyclist told police the incident began after he and the driver, who police later identified as Jones, exchanged words and hand gestures on the road. The cyclist said he was able to avoid hitting the SUV.
Sobriety test: Police say they detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Jones, who failed field-sobriety tests before police arrested him. According to court records, it was his second DUI arrest since 2008. On Sunday, police charged Jones with felony aggravated assault because they say his actions could have produced "great bodily harm," according to Idaho code.
