One of the factors behind the success of Idaho's software community has been the level of collaboration that takes place every day among the hundreds of Idaho software companies and professionals. That's why develop.idaho, the state's largest software conference, plays such a crucial role in supporting Idaho's tech industry. Develop.idaho 2013, presented by Perkins Coie, is scheduled on Wednesday, April 17, at Boise State University's Stueckle Sky Center; tickets are available at www.developidaho.org.
Now in its third year, develop.idaho has created a track record of bringing together hundreds of software professionals across Idaho to learn from and network with top software thought leaders. The theme for this year's conference, "Find Your Platform," reflects an important shift in software development. To meet the needs of users, many software companies have changed their software to become more customizable and able to integrate with other applications to create ecosystems of solutions. Develop.idaho will give attendees access to companies that have created successful software platforms, an understanding of how to break into new markets and a kickstart for creating their own platform to make Idaho's software industry prosper.
Acting on feedback from previous develop.idaho conferences, we've made changes that aim to make this year's event the best yet. We're bringing in a greater number of leading industry experts from outside Idaho who work at the biggest names in software companies today - Mikkel Svane, CEO of Zendesk; Grant Shirk, group product marketing manager at Box.com; and Robert Schmid, a Cloud and social evangelist who has worked for companies such as Activision Blizzard and Salesforce Foundation. The conference also will feature speakers from Idaho software companies who will not only provide insights to their companies and technologies, but also describe how their software platforms are being used around the world.
We're also dividing develop.idaho 2013 into two breakout sessions - a business track and a technical track. This will give us more time to learn from world-class industry leaders and help our attendees become immersed in a specific focus that's most relevant to them and their business.
Develop.idaho provides unique value through exposing technology concepts to developers, designers, entrepreneurs and students. By providing a venue to help Idahoans learn about the software industry and how it makes an impact worldwide, develop.idaho encourages people to learn new technical concepts, start a business or take their company in a different direction. Through showcasing the opportunities of Idaho's software industry and the viability of starting an Idaho software company, develop.idaho also will inspire more university students to study computer science and information technology. Thanks to support from our sponsors, student tickets are available at no charge.
Develop.idaho 2013 will conclude with Tech Cocktail Boise, the networking mixer and Startup Innovation Showcase mixer presented by CradlePoint. Tech Cocktail is a national organization that showcases new startups. At last year's develop.idaho, 14 Idaho startups were spotlighted.
If software is your profession or hobby, develop.idaho is an event that shouldn't be missed.
