Covering Idaho business and economic stories for a business-minded readership may be the primary role this magazine plays, but it's not the only one. Another is providing a robust selection of advice and opinion by local columnists sharing their expertise.
You can be part of that. If you're an Idahoan with authoritative knowledge of a topic or issue that we haven't covered recently, and if you can write clearly for a lay reader, I invite you to get in touch with me at the address below. We're especially interested in opinion. We have less need of business advice, because we have several good advice columns already. But if you have something special to say, we can talk.
One example of the kind of opinion we're after is this week's column by Stephen R. Miller, a University of Idaho law professor in Boise, on lawyer ratings offered by Avvo.com. It's on page 14, inside this edition's Business of Law section.
Let me know, too, if you're able to help us provide some coverage of stories that our staff might not get to. For example, we couldn't send a reporter March 12 to U.S. Bancorp Chairman Richard K. Davis' speech to the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, but a transcript by chamber PR Director Caroline Merritt allowed us to share highlights of his comments last week with our 11,000 subscribers. We appreciate that.
